On Burgers’ original mathematical model of turbulence. (English) Zbl 0753.35076

The author derives an optimal estimate for the Hausdorff and fractal dimensions of the global attractor of Burgers’ original model of turbulence, which has the form of a nonlinear heat equation coupled nonlocally and nonlinearly to a first order ordinary differential equation for the velocities. The technique for proving the result uses a generalized Lieb-Thirring inequality.
