On the starshapeness of G/G/c queueing systems. (English) Zbl 0732.60101
The authors prove that the working and the sojourn times of a customer in a G/G/c queueing system are increasing and starshaped with respect to the mean service time (starshapeness is a property stronger than monotonicity but weaker than convexity). An example to illustrate how this property can be used to reduce the search space in optimization problems is also provided.
