A note on the computation of double zeros of polynomials via Vieta’s equations. (English) Zbl 0731.65036

The author describes a variant of Newton’s method for the computation of polynomial zeros via Vieta’s equations which exhibits quadratic convergence even in the presence of exactly one double zero.
