This paper provides some discrete constructions and algorithms concerning planar rational B-spline curves. It is shown that the convexity theorem and the variation diminishing property can be readily proved using the so-called rational discrete B-spline curves assuming only the continuity condition for the curves concerned. The method of proof adopted by the authors is consistent with geometrical intuition.
