v-saturated uniformly A-convex algebras. (English) Zbl 0725.46031
It is shown that the class of saturated uniformly A-convex algebras defined by A. C. Cochran in 1973 and introduced to make the Gelfand transform continuous is empty. The author then modifies this definition and shows that with respect to this new definition the Gelfand transform becomes at least bornologically. Under additional conditions the continuity of the Gelfand transform is studied.
