The author gives a survey on the development of hyperbolic partial differential equations in this century. Mainly, he mentions the study on Cauchy problem for hyperbolic equations with simple or multiple characteristics, Cauchy problem of linear partial differential equations with holomorphic coefficients in complex domains, propagation and reflection of singularities, and some topics related to scattering theory.
