Modelling multivariate survival. (English) Zbl 0644.62099

Multivariate survival analysis is the study of dependence between failure times including influence of covariates on failure times in the presence of dependence. Possible situations are survival of several individuals, different components of a system, multiple occurrences of the same event, occurrence of different events for an individual and competing risks.
Different models for the underlying probability mechanisms including transformation of independent variables, conditional independence and conditional distributions are reviewed and their relevance for the different situations is discussed.
