The authors present a physiological model for short-term memory based on the comparatively well studied mechanism of synaptic transmission. A model for synaptic transmission was proposed by the second author, S. Troyanski, N. Tsaneva and L. Venkov [C. R. Acad. Bulgare Sci. 28, 1023–1026 (1975; Zbl 0338.92011)] and was considerably improved.
In this paper the improved model is discussed and is used for modelling of a reverberation circle which is considered as a memory unit in short- term memory. The mathematical objects used in the model are differential equations.
