A differential-delay equation, known as the generalized Hutchinson equation, is studied. A function, characterising the age structure of population, is taken as a sum of the continuous function and a linear combination of delta-functions. Linear analysis and numerical investigation of the equation are given. The results of the numerical investigation are compared with those of some mammal populations.
