Curvature and torsion from matter. (English) Zbl 0614.53057

We show that in spinor pregeometry vacuum matter fluctuations can induce both gravity and torsion. If one assumes Lorentz gauge symmetry from the very beginning then spacetime turns out to be of the Riemann-Cartan type. If this hypothesis is relaxed then a self-consistent globally flat Weitzenböck geometry is recovered and local Lorentz invariance arises as a low energy symmetry of the induced action.
