A correspondence between scene analysis and motions of frameworks. (English) Zbl 0564.70005

The paper deals with an isomorphism between the space of scenes over the picture of spherical polyhedra and the space of instantaneous motions of a framework. First basic definitions in the field of plane drawings of spatial scenes and in the field of plate and bar frameworks are listed. The basic maps of these structures are presented at the level of elementary matrix manipulations. Introducing new equivalence relations, an isomorphism on the resulting equivalence classes is defined which transform properties as being flat, foldable or sharp for pictures into properties of being infinitesimal rigid, shaky, or completely shaky for frameworks.
