Lubrication squeeze-film theory for the Oldroyd-B fluid. (English) Zbl 0558.76007

In this paper, the authors have solved a lubrication problem of a squeeze-film. The lubricant is assumed to be the Oldroyd-B model. The resulting equations are solved by the Galerkin method. The results are expressed in terms of the Weissenberg number and compared with experimental results. The results agree very well at small and large Weissenberg numbers. Engineers in lubrication field will find this paper most useful.
