The main aim of the present paper is to prove the existence of fixed and common fixed points for nonexpansive, asymptotically nonexpansive and generalized nonexpansive mappings in convex metric spaces. Such spaces, introduced by Takahashi, include Banach and our results generalize several in that setting.
