Summary: In this paper, we have transplanted the Schreier method of investigating the subgroups of free groups into the study of languages and have established a new describing means of languages which we call the Schreier systems. This paper also has shown that when a language is regular, its Schreier system is equivalent to the minimum automaton accepting it. Some basic structures of this description systems are discussed in this paper.
