This is a text-book on pattern recognition for students of universities. The book is also useful for specialists in the area of pattern recognition and corresponding applications.
The author considers some methods of coding of patterns and beforehand the working up of data, the means of presentation and transformation of signs, the methods of number and syntax classification. A classification system is presented.
The author gives an extensive bibliography, however in general it is oriented to technical cybernetics, and therefore the works of mathematical pattern recognition are not sufficiently taken into account. In particular, the works of Soviet mathematicians like Yu. Zhuravlev, N. Zagorujko, Vl. Mazurov, which consider the important mathematical aspects of pattern recognition, are not contained.
