German verbs that provide additional conjugations for other verbs.


Among the German auxiliary verbs could be count:

  • The tree purely auxiliary verbs used for the formation of compound grammatical tenses and the (werden-)passive: haben, sein and werden
  • The six traditional modal verbs: wollen, mögen, sollen, müssen, können and dürfen
  • The verb brauchen, frequently considered on the periphery of the modal verbs
  • The verbs bekommen, kriegen and erhalten, with comparable meanings in the formation of the dative passive
  • The verb lassen when it is used to form causatives of various kinds
