Question from Brandonowen09 (20:45, 25 September 2024)
[edit]Hey. how do i start writing my first article? --Brandonowen09 (talk) 20:45, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- That's great! First of all, I recommend you read WP:FIRST so you know how to create an article, how to format, if that topic needs one, et cetera. Once you have done that, you'll need to create your article! Since you're not autoconfirmed just yet, you'll have to use our Wikipedia:Article wizard. Lordseriouspig 09:05, 27 September 2024 (UTC)

Upcoming expiry of your patroller right
[edit]Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your permission "patroller" (New page reviewers) will expire on 00:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC). For most rights, you will need to renew at WP:PERM, unless you have been told otherwise when your right was approved. To opt out of user right expiry notifications, add yourself to m:Global reminder bot/Exclusion. Leaderbot (talk) 05:22, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
I wrote an article "Berean Standard Bible" a few days ago in my sandbox and when then I pasted it into the new article page. But then it was deleted by somebody for G13 Abandoned draft. I'm confused because I just made the article a few days ago.
Here is the link to it: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Berean_Standard_Bible&action=edit&redlink=1
and here is the article I wrote. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:ToyoNagal/sandbox
I'm just puzzled and not sure how to proceed. I am new to wikipedia. Over a decade ago I made various edits over IP, but this is my first article. --ToyoNagal (talk) 19:22, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t have access to the edits prior to the deletion, so I can’t tell why this was deleted. You should use the move tool to move the sandbox page to the article space with the appropriate name, and not WP:COPYPASTEMOVE it. Lordseriouspig 07:42, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from Zeesterman (09:27, 28 September 2024)
[edit]Hello
I found out that this page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Modern_Marvels_episodes&editingStatsId=dfa7be479ad18dc91ee4&editingStatsOversample=1&gesuggestededit=1#Episodes
has the underlinked tag. I had the idea to link the title of every episode is this a good idea ? --Zeesterman (talk) 09:27, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- No. I would not, unless the episode specifically has a page about it. Lordseriouspig 07:24, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2024
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2024).
- Administrator elections are a proposed new process for selecting administrators, offering an alternative to requests for adminship (RfA). The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. For questions or to help out, please visit the talk page at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections.
- Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether there is a consensus to have an administrator recall process.
- The arbitration case Historical elections has been closed.
- An arbitration case regarding Backlash to diversity and inclusion has been opened.
- Editors are invited to nominate themselves to serve on the 2024 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission until 23:59 October 8, 2024 (UTC).
- If you are interested in stopping spammers, please put MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist and MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist on your watchlist, and help out when you can.
Question from Chrisnair1 (00:01, 3 October 2024)
[edit]I made my first edit, and it was immediately reverted by ClueBot as a suspected vandalism. I've reported the false positive. Should I also make the edit again, or will that happen once the false positive report is reviewed? Thanks. --Chrisnair1 (talk) 00:01, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- I’m not sure how this works for ClueBot, but for WP:EFFPR, the reviewer will make the edit on your behalf if an edit was a false positive. You will probably not be able to make the edit. Thanks, Lordseriouspig 07:30, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from RDWolfgang (07:26, 3 October 2024)
[edit]Hello, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to reach out to you regarding a discussion happening on the Bang Chan article, which I’ve been working on. The issue relates to whether we should use "Bang Chan" or just "Bang" throughout the article. Bang Chan's real name is Christopher Chahn Bahng, but his widely recognized stage name is "Bang Chan." One editor supports using only "Bang" after the initial mention, while another supports the use of "Bang Chan" throughout. Personally, I believe "Bang Chan" should be used consistently in the article, as it is how he is most commonly known and referred to by reliable sources. For example, in the article for J-Hope of BTS, the full stage name is used consistently, not just "Hope." Similarly, using only "Bang" in this case feels less natural, and doesn’t reflect how he’s widely recognized. According to Wikipedia's guidelines on pseudonyms and stage names (WP and WP), we should use the name that’s most commonly associated with the subject. In Bang Chan’s case, the full stage name fits this criterion. I would really appreciate your help and guidance on this matter, as I want to ensure we’re following the best practices. The full discussion can be found on the Talk page of the article, and I would love to hear your valuable opinion. Thank you in advance for your time and support! --RDWolfgang (talk) 07:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- I would recommend taking this to a WP:RFC, this seems to need more than just me to help reach consensus. Thanks, Lordseriouspig 07:33, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
