I had a terrible time with the pictures. None of the ones in Chrisye could be used as they were all fair use, so I had to use a battleship - unless another FA gets passed in the next couple of hours. So many featured lists, almost all on sports, so hard to find something interesting - something besides head shots of white men and quality good enough to use - so I couldn't work in many featured pictures. What do you think? MathewTownsend (talk) 22:40, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- hey! I switched to a smaller image and fit another featured picture in. Feel a little better. MathewTownsend (talk) 23:15, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- I apologize but I had to remove that last image. It really screwed up the formating of the page and made a mess. Also, there's already a similar picture on the page. MathewTownsend (talk) 02:05, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- ALright, couldn't see how it would look on a larger screen. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:13, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm good
I'm mostly good. Submitting in about two weeks. Stressed from having gone home. Job hunting. At the moment, trying to get the following list expanded to DYK length:
- Saudi Arabia women's national football team
- Yemen women's national football team
- Kuwait women's national football team
- Macau women's national football team
- Brunei women's national football team
- Cambodia women's national football team
- Timor-Leste women's national football team
- Côte d'Ivoire women's national football team
Wanted all the missing ones nominated. :( But they were copied from my user space to the main space and started the clock ticking. Not ready for WikiWomenCamp. I wanted to get something printed and it just ain't going to happen. :( --LauraHale (talk) 07:32, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- User:Raymond Cruise COPIED, NOT MOVED from my user space with out telling me. (Hence my annoyance. When I do bunch DYK noms, I like to store up a bunch of nomination reviews, and then unleash them all at one time.) Ideal world? Merged into my user page versions and main space ones deleted so I don't have to panic at the thought of trying to get them all to length as it will require research. I was thinking of doing with about two or three a set, possibly all the ones from each region... but the info boxes were NOT ready. The prose was NOT READY. Also, SEVERELY NOT READY. I also kicked a bit of a fit over at Wikipedia talk:Ambassadors about the DYK process. --LauraHale (talk) 07:43, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Major shit is about what I'm having. I have asked an admin to merge the things back into my user space and delete the main space. I almost certainly strongly suspect Saudia Arabia, Timor-Leste, Yemen, Kuwait, Cambodia and Oman DO NOT even have teams that exist yet. FIFA certainly has zero information on them. I believe Macau may also be lacking a team. User:LauraHale/Côte d'Ivoire women's national football team had at least 20 edits by me. It just was not prose fixed for DYK nomination and there was ZERO indication the article was copied from my user space. Just because the links were red and I have pages on my user space does not mean teams actually exist. (If worst came to worst, I would rename those articles "Women's football in Oman", "Women's football in Kuwait" and use the information on the user page article IN the main space article but with a different scope. Also, clock goes tick tock. --LauraHale (talk) 08:11, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- I hope so. I'm just... yeah. If some one comments to say "Please help edit IN MY USER SPACE" then do that. Don't copy user space over to the main space. He also added unsourced statements that they never played a game to the article. Not a source can I find that says they exist, let alone never played a game. Thanks for watching my DYKs while I was away. --LauraHale (talk) 08:23, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Then made an edit to the article after I had a snit fit all over his talk page. I just moved the thing. This will not end well. :( I tried to contact two of the federations governing the African teams asking them for pictures to be uploaded on Commons for inclusion on the articles. I've worked hard on tracking people down to get permissions. Haven't ordered books beyond roller derby for sourcing. --LauraHale (talk) 10:04, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- I seriously doubt I will. :( I asked though. I could call them but I don't think it would help much. :( One of the things I would love love love is to get all the African women's national football teams to DYK because African women RARELY EVER appear on the front of Wikipedia. I would make a case that they should not be included as sport articles for the purpose of only one sport article per cue on DYK because of that. --LauraHale (talk) 10:14, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Tajul Muluk (religious leader)
Amnesty International has a new Indonesian prisoner of conscience, Tajul Muluk (religious leader), so I'm throwing the Crisco signal up into the clouds. English language coverage so far has been limited, but there's clearly more in Indonesian (Google Translate seems pretty terrible at Indonesian, unfortunately). Take a look if you get a chance; I'd be happy to split another DYK, etc. Khazar2 (talk) 16:57, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- One very specific question for you about names--should this be sorted under Muluk or Tajul? Sources appear to use "Tajul" to refer to him rather than "Muluk", but that could just be because his brothers are also mentioned in every article. Khazar2 (talk) 17:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- He is probably one of the millions of Indonesians who don't have a family name. I'll look into an expansion later. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:44, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

I was living and working in the Bantul area during Udin's murder time - spooky to read such a good article - I always thought it was the bupati... SatuSuro 23:00, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. Shame someone decided the word "murder" was NPOV and is/was causing a fuss at Talk:Murder of Udin. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:03, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- we have had the problem in the Australian project with something similar, but to locate the talk page where it was being argued would be a problem....maybe a search might find something... But back to the article - the calibre of the article is so good I do hope you get more than barnstarts for your work! I know somehwere at the bottom of a cubic metre of paper i have KR and Bernas news clippings on the articles he (Udin) was doing as they were about villages not far from my research site...SatuSuro 23:09, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Interesting news

Good Article nominaton
I was talking to Mark Artsen and he suggested asking if you were interested in reviewing or helping out on an article that I nominated. The article is S&Man. I did feel insulted with the last reviewer which is why I haven't worked on it till now, but I decided to try to get my first GA. Mark Artsen also told me how strict Jezhotwells is so if that's the case, I shouldn't have felt insulted. Anyway, I decided to not let a good article nomination fail get me down. - I added access dates. What do you mean by standardized dates? SL93 (talk) 01:34, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think you mean like July 5, 2007 instead of 5 July 2007. SL93 (talk) 01:36, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- Looking at the current date formatting on the article, it appears to be consistently done, which should pass WP style guidelines. I've seen featured where this isn't the case. --LauraHale (talk) 01:49, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

- I also found out that Erik Marcisak played the part of Eric Rost. Erik Marcisack never directed these type of films, but the whole subplot was fictional along with the series. The series was made up specifically for the film. I will see if I can find a copy of this film to watch so I can make things clearer. SL93 (talk) 17:55, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Abu Deeb image
Hey Crisco,
This is what I sent to her back then:
“ | Dear Maryam,
I'm sending you this e-mail as you have requested. Please make sure the image is free (i.e taken by you or one of your family who finds it okay to publish it in Wikipedia). Also it would be better if you send a formal e-mail to Wikipedia stating that you own the image (but this is after uploading it). Thanks, Mohamed CJ |
” |
Then she sent the image mentioning it was taken by her along with many thanks. Does this count as declaration? Also should I simply forward it to OTRS or should it contain explanation as well? Thanks. Mohamed CJ (talk) 11:33, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Did she declare that it has a compatible license, like CC-BY-SA? If so, forward it to Commons (see here for the address) with a bit of information (what it's confirming, what image [url link], and so on) then tag the image with {{OTRS pending}}. It'll take a while though. Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:39, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- No she didn't, but I tagged it with CC-BY-SA 3.0 and today I sent her an e-mail to send a declaration to OTRS team. Mohamed CJ (talk) 11:42, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- If she wants to, she can upload it herself. Ucu Agustin did so. Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:51, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Image is already uploaded, so I'd wait till she replies/sends declaration e-mail. Mohamed CJ (talk) 16:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

- I believe you have the IQ (you've done it on your own before) it just takes practice. I'll look Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:49, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

did you know? Your picture of the day ...
Commons Picture of the day. Wonderful! Congratulations. MathewTownsend (talk) 13:05, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! Yeah, I saw that earlier. Interesting how fast they moved. (I uploaded like 8 new images today... at least one of them you'll want to avoid) Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:17, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Don't think those others will make it to "featured", something tells me. (Reminds be of pictures I used to find in books in my home town library - back when such material could be found in libraries and liberally pursued by a child! Now I call that "the good old days"). MathewTownsend (talk) 14:26, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- A couple of the paintings, maybe. Wouldn't expect the photographs to do too well Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:30, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Cherry Belle
On 25 April 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cherry Belle, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that two members of the I-Pop group Cherry Belle were reportedly released for being too old? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cherry Belle. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Help? :)
Hi. You clearly know your way around DYK; I, alas, do not. Can you tell me if I did this right? I expected a subpage to be generated and was planning to watchlist, but when I followed the "comment or review" link, it so didn't do what I was expecting. :/
Also, I had marked the one I reviewed "pass" but undid myself, because the directions didn't say I should do that. I'm not sure if somebody else does that. And I'm not entirely sure if I should mark it pass anyway until after I've found out if the image caption is optimal. :)
Your sage and seasoned advice would be much appreciated! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:57, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- For the closing, all you have to do is give the tick (as you did). The template will be closed by whomever promotes the hook to the prep area
- For the other, you seem to have copied and pasted the template (and its contents), when you should have transcluded. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, it's fixed. Next time, use the "Create the nomination subpage." box just under the table of contents and fill in the template on the subpage created, then transclude the subpage. :-) Glad to see you writing content. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:13, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out what I had done wrong but had a strong feeling I'd done something. :) I'm glad to see me writing content, too, even though I feel kind of guilty. :/ Oi, the backlog at WP:CP! Still, once in a while you need to do something fun. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:15, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Exactly! Shame this had to start with a copyvio investigation, but it happens. Remember The Shirelles? Argh! Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:18, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I certainly do. :) It always makes me happy when the article we wind up with is better than the one we had to lose. You did great work with that. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Danke. Thankfully I haven't found anything that bad recently, but then again I haven't been expanding as much Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for reviewing. Please let me know if my recent edits have resolved your concern. Savidan 13:27, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've removed the tags. If you are now OK with the article, would you mind adding the relevant tick? Otherwise, it often appears to other reviewers that there are unresolved issues and old articles especially tend to fall through the cracks. Savidan 13:44, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Trust me, I know Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:48, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
did I do this right?
My new dyk entry doesn't seem to be showing up in the dyk queue for the day it was nominated: Template:Did you know nominations/Eldar Shafir. Did I do something wrong?
Also, in terms of the Qxx, does weighing in on other dyks count, eg on Template:Did you know nominations/Hierarchical Structure of the Big Five and Template:Did you know nominations/Relationship Contingent Self-Esteem?
Thanks, MathewTownsend (talk) 13:29, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- You seem to have forgotten to transclude the template (i.e. put {{Did you know nominations/Eldar Shafir}} on the T:TDYK page). For reviews I think you're fine. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:40, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I still don't get how to do it. MathewTownsend (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- You almost had it, you just missed the last step Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:38, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- But where does it say to do that last step?!!! MathewTownsend (talk) 14:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
