Recent change (Primal Rage 2)
[edit]Someone recently added a lot info on certain avatar characters and Primal Rage: The Avatars. This is all very well to me but where does this fit in with the original Primal Rage? If they are part of either Primal Rage 2 or Primal Rage: The Avatars they should be included on their respective pages and not here. Same goes for Necrosan and Slashfang. They were never a part of the original Primal Rage. I rearranged the two sequels under one heading. --Steerpike 15:19, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Allosaurs?
[edit]Weird, that Sauron and Diablo are allosaurs, but they are morely akin to T.rex. I counted their fingers, and they have two fingers each hand. Is it their ability to jump that make the two allosaurid?--Triple-Quadruple 22:58, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Diablo and Sauron are clearly Tyrannosaurs- two fingers on each hand, ridges over the eyes derivative of the Jurassic Park T-Rex (which came out just a few years prior to PR, also explaining why there's a Raptor in the game), etc. Sounds like speculative bullshit to me.
I agree, some people don't know any thing 'bout dinos.Triple-Quadruple 00:14, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Mortal Kombat
[edit]This is not a Mortal Kombat article. The entire character section seems rewritten as if Primal Rage is a Mortal Kombat spin-off. Frankly I find some of the comparisons a little far fetched. And just because there are characters who shoot fire or ice doesn't mean they're based on Sub-Zero and Scorpion. It just means they're stock characters who turn up in *a lot* of fighting games (Glacius and Cinder for example), as does the Liu Kang/Bruce Lee stereotype (Marshall Law for example). Is GamePro an official reference on this game, or were they just speculating? I'd like to see some sources on this. --Steerpike 10:43, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Second message: To the anonymous person that keeps reverting to the Mortal Kombat references: Yes I do lack the source you mention to verify your claims, which is why it shouldn't be added in the article in the first place. Every user on Wikipedia will lack a credible source as long you don't provide it, in which you case you might just have well inserted your own opinion, regardless of how "brain-dead obvious" it is. See Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Citing sources. I'll be happy to discuss this in depth on the talkpage. Please don't use edit summaries to do that. Thank you. --Steerpike 12:01, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Okay look... not EVERYTHING in the world can be found on the Internet. Just because you, this one person in the world, doesn't have the source in hand, doesn't mean it's not valid or doesn't exist. Meanwhile, thousands of people have the source sitting in a pile of magazines or books. Anyway, point is, in an interview with the creators in the Player's Guide, which was produced by GamePro, the developers reference it. And also in a GamePro magazine, the editors flat out reference this game as "Mortal Kombat with Dinosaurs" due to the beyond-coincidental fact that there are SEVEN characters each matching closely to the traits of the MK characters. If you see INFLUENCE as a "spin-off", that's your thing. I'm not suggesting that though. You read into it that way yourself. What do you want me to do? Scan it? I mean, really, come on. And as far as your Killer Instinct analogy, it's not the same, given a varying number of characters in the roster for one thing. To compare MK to that game would be far fetched. Please don't blow this up to a comparison on all fighting games ever, in context to MK and PR, I've provided dead-on similarities between them, in terms of character behavior, special moves, the number of players included, the male/female ratio... even fatality references like the heart rip and fire breath moves are made but I didn't even go there (of course PR also added original fatalites of their own, too). And last, but not least, MIDWAY DISTRIBUTED PRIMAL RAGE AFTER ATARI'S DOWNFALL, the same company that developed and distributed Mortal Kombat, as the MK team is friends with the PR team, they're all from Chicago, Illinois, where both titles debuted. And look, I'm not trying to be mean or wanting to keep fighting with you about this or something, I don't enjoy this, it's just sometimes when you're so certain of something and you have the evidence but can't prove it, it can be frustrating to convince someone else. Done. -- Sincerely, guy who's not full of crap and just trying to provide honest info.
- Well I'm glad you took the effort to explain yourself on the talkpage. See the point is this: you can't simply add info that is potentially contentious and NOT cite sources. A source doesn't necessarily imply "the internet" by the way. A lot of articles on Wikipedia simply reference works in print. There is a style guide for referencing magazine articles (which is what your edits fall under), so it's not problem if it can't be found on the internet, nor if I actually get a look at your sources. See this is not just my opinion, I'm trying to speak from a general user's frame of reference (and official Wikipedia policy). Anyone might stumble onto this page, read the MK comparisons and think "wait a minute is this verified?". So, if the info is valid and you want it in this article, do it but provide a reference to the article in question. I'll give an example from Tomb Raider II:
- Boyer, Crispin (Nov., 1997). "Reinventing the Raider: The Evolution of Tomb Raider 2". Electronic Gaming Monthly, p. 82-96.
- By the way I like the fact that the comparison is no longer made *in* each character profile. I think it's better to keep this separate. --Steerpike 09:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah I figured it would be better to put the controversial info at its own place to sort of separate it from the other info that was already there. I reworded it a bit, too, so it reads more like a discussion topic. PS - sorry about coming off so abbrasive before.
- I took the liberty of reworking the section to better highlight the comparisons between Primal Rage's fighters and Mortal Kombat's. Could someone please find a source for the article mentioned earlier, though? Without the citation, the section in question is more or less irrelevant. 166.70.132.97 03:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Toys
[edit]I remember a toy line being produced - I have several of them (the raptor, Vertigo, Armadon, and Diablo), and they each came with attachable armor and two "eatable followers". This is also how I found out about the existence of the Smilodon and Necrosan, as I saw them as toys before I ever heard of a sequel.
Since there doesn't seem to be any "Primal Rage" franchise article, info on the toy line should probably be presented here.KrytenKoro 07:08, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Also, each toy gave a short description and an "official" species name - Vertigo's was this long, convoluted cobra-tyrannosaurus thing, chaos and blizzard were some kind of "kong" thing, Raptor guy was some utah raptor or something, and armadon was some combination of triceratops, stegosaurus, and ankylodon.KrytenKoro 07:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
The album
[edit]- I've obtained an album called "All The Rage"[1], which is apparently the soundtrack for Primal Rage, yet it contains bizarre vocals with lyrics revolving around the game plot. Anyone have info on this, and shouldn't it be mentionedd in the article? Funkynusayri 18:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Necrosan in the first game?
[edit]The article states Necrosan is the boss of the Playstation version of the game. However, I have seen no evidence that confirms this anywhere else. As I do not have access to the PS1 version of this game, is there someone who can verify this? 209.147.114.202 (talk) 20:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
He isn't in the Playstation version of the game. I've played through it with each character and I never saw him. - The Bloodking —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.122.73.114 (talk) 05:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Not Just PC
[edit]The data box on the right that contains all the PC games specs should be changed to add in console game release dates and the like. Seeing as how they don't have their own respective pages and all of them are the same game, tweaked or not.mcnichoj (talk) 00:11, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
ROM encryption
[edit]Something really needs to be done about this section. The tone is inappropriate in places, and the wording is so nonsensical that in some places it's impossible to figure out what the heck is being said. On top of all that, there's no references for any of it, and since anyone can edit Wikipedia, that puts every piece of information there on the same level as any other internet rumor.
Please, someone fix this up immediately. As it stands, there's no good reason not to delete the section.--Martin IIIa (talk) 15:06, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Dinosaur species
[edit]I reverted some changes in which someone changed some of the dinosaur species to some totally inaccurate ones. First, suggesting Talon is a Utahraptor is totally random. There isn't even a full holotype for a Utahraptor so there's no way anyone could know what it looks like. Then, Vertigo resembling Theriznosaurus is totally ridiculous since the Theriznosaurus isn't even a dromeosaur, but a much bigger and bulkier creature. I could also ask for your fundament for saying Diablo and Sauron are of a different species, but I won't get so picky. --uKER (talk) 00:48, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Species Names
[edit]Can anyone verify the origin of "Taranodon", "Apsidius", and "Cobronicus"? I can't seem to find any references to them. The toy line gives the species of Sauron and Diablo as just "Tyrannosaurus Rex", Blizzard and Chaos are "Kongs", and Vertigo is christened a "Cobrasaur Efraasia". 2602:306:8099:9BC0:90F5:F932:969D:5D84 (talk) 04:48, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
