was there a standalone of the arcade version?

[edit]

Last I checked the arcade version was a "b-side" of the game Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja (it was included with the game as an alternate mode). Might want to mention that in the article. Was a standalone version of Cadash ever made? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.68.131.138 (talk) 21:16, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I remember seeing them at local arcades. I believe there was a 2-player and a 4-player version of the cabinet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.232.5.178 (talk) 20:42, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some inconsistencies between the "Gameplay" and "Ports" sections.

[edit]

There's a bunch of stuff in this article which is a bit... unclear.

First, there's play count and characters available:

"Four characters can play at once in the arcade version, and up to two players may select from four different characters in the console versions: fighter, mage, priestess, and ninja..." - So this suggest the arcade had 4 player simultaneous, and the console versions (TG16 and Gen) had 2 players simultaneous, with all 4 characters available.

"In both the arcade and the TurboGrafx-16 versions, there are four playable characters. However, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version only has the fighter and mage as playable characters, as the priestess and ninja characters are missing." - OK, so the Gen version only had two characters. That makes the above a bit weirdly worded, as there were only two console ports (the later versions were emulations of the arcade version), and of those only one had 4 characters to choose from.

"The arcade version supports a four-players "link" mode using two Cadash cabinets, with some limitations" - So is this the _only_ way Cadash had 4-player? Did a single Cadash arcade cabinet only have 2 players simultaneous play? Or did it have 4 without the limitations of the link mode... or with even more limitations? This makes that first bit above further unclear.

There's also the question of what herbs do between versions. The article tells us two things:

"In shops, and in hidden places, are medicinal herbs which restore 10 HP if brought to zero..." - So herbs heal you to 10 on what would be death; no mention of differences between versions, which (as above) was highlighted for other aspects of the game in the same paragraph, so presumably this counts for every version.

(In the Gen version) "The healing value of herbs, damage from enemies, enemy AI and many more aspects of the game were altered." - OK, so herbs heal differently in this version; why does the above line, not mention that? Again, that paragraph is not arcade-specific, elsewhere highlighting when the described mechanics differed between versions.

It seems that the gameplay section needs to be rewritten to be more consistent in either specifically talking about the arcade version (with all differences to be kept to the Ports section), or to cover all versions (in which case, perhaps the Ports section should be reduced or removed to avoid duplicating, and occasionally contradicting, the information in the Gameplay section).
