About the film
[edit]The term “baba-cool”, also spelled “baba cool” or “babacool‘ (from the Hindi baba ’daddy” and the English cool “calm”), is a false Anglicism for “hippie”.
The film was shot between June 18 and August 3, 1981,[3] mainly in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region: Forcalquier, Gréoux-les-Bains, Manosque, Reillanne and Simiane-la-Rotonde.
The film was not a box-office success, ending the year with just under 500,000 admissions3, half as many as François Leterrier's previous film, Je vais craquer, which ended the year with a million admissions.[4]
