@Valentina.Anitnelav: unfortunately in some ligature MacGuffins don't correspond to real objects

So we should use object of statement has role (P3831) or similar in every work. d1g (talk) 07:45, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that we shouldn't use instance of (P31) MacGuffin (Q488733), as MacGuffin is the role of an object in a story. But object of statement has role (P3831) is a qualifier - what property would you use for the main statement?
We could use subject has role (P2868) at the MacGuffin's page (e.g. Holy Grail (Q162808)) to indicate that an object has the role of a McGuffin. Additionally we should use of (P642) as a qualifier to indicate the work where it has this role (e.g. Holy Grail (Q162808) subject has role (P2868) MacGuffin (Q488733) of (P642) Arthurian romance (Q715768)) . - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 08:11, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"main property" for P3831:
With MacGuffins in literature main subject (P921) - relatively always true
with other creative genres (games, performances) we could use has use (P366)

Ok, I wouldn't use main subject (P921) for MacGuffins, as this is meant for the main topics (and the MacGuffin of a work is rather seldom a main topic) - but we could use depicts (P180). This we could use for games, performances etc., too. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 08:38, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
