Description9-character identifiers assigned by the US Federal Election Commission (FEC).
  • candidate IDs: ".. formats (H2ST56789, S2ST56789, P23456789) that vary depending on whether the candidate is running for House, Senate or President (or Vice-Pres.). The first character identifies the type of office the candidate is seeking. If House or Senate, the 3rd and 4th characters are the 2-character state code of the House or Senate seat."
  • committee IDs: "In general .. begin with the letter C .. followed by eight numeric values". The last digit is a checksum.
