We were a group of 4, three sisters and our mother away for a two night break.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted and made to feel welcome. At every stage during our visit the staff were lovely, helpful, courteous, and delivered an excellent standard of service with just the right balance of banter and engagement.
The location of course, right on the lake is special and our lake view rooms were beautifully appointed with lovely balconies where you could sit and take best advantage of same.
We ate in the fine dining restaurant on our first of a two night stay, opting for the three course menu. The food was excellent, with beautiful presentation, sublime flavours and perfect portion size, leaving us satiated without that “full” feeling. One sister in particular, was delighted with the vegan/vegetarian menu which catered for her food preferences in style.
We didn’t have an opportunity to enjoy the bar food but given how busy it was at all times with locals and guests I have no doubt that it would have been lovely too. They do offer afternoon tea but this would need to be ordered in advance.
We enjoyed our buffet breakfasts while again enjoying the lake views and all tastes and requirements were very well catered for.
We all had different needs the first morning and two of us went for a trek to the nearby Torc waterfall. We could just have easily walked to the town centre which was in easy access.
Another enjoyed a treatment in the spa while our mother relaxed with some reading in the library.
Reception kindly organised a boat trip on the lake with good access for less mobile guests from Ross Castle.
Overall we had a super couple of days, topped off with a lovely chat before we left with Niall Huggard, General Manager of this family owned hotel.
