Apparently you don‘t have to pick one of the five selections anymore? Which is good Bc I got an arc of the Kevin Wilson and preordered The Water Dancer and the other three choices do not appeal to me at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #botm

I was deleting pics from my camera and I came across this glaring error that COMPLETELY took me out of this otherwise really great novel. You only crochet with one needle. Knitting is two. You could make the argument that the POV character doesn‘t know the difference but I do and it bothers me so much.

DGRachel That would drive me nuts, too! 6y

📚JANUARY WRAP UP📚
-7 novels - 1 tpb/gn - 117 comics -

I read a lot of long books this month, which I don‘t usually do. I‘m not a fast reader so I tend to shy away from door stop books. But four of the books I have lined up to read in February are also door stops so maybe I‘m embracing the Big Books.

One of my reading goals for this year is to actually take a break on my lunch at work. The last semester was a nightmare that involved students having to eat their lunches in our classrooms because of truly unprecedented circumstances. But that meant that we didn‘t get lunch breaks at all for several months. Now that I do have 30 minutes to myself every day, I can actually get some reading done and it‘s pretty nice. #teacherstruggles

Im not even 30 pages into this book and it is already devastatingly relatable. I also just find this whole book to be deeply upsetting and uncomfortable. Not in a bad way, but in a “wow this hits too close to home” way. Anyway straight people are trash and I wanted Martin to get hit by a bus when I saw the movie and I still kinda want him to die in the first 30 pages of the book.

jan 01, 2019 | another resolution is to use social media more productively and effectively. updating my litsy and bookstagram accounts really kept me motivated to keep reading. and when I fell off maintaining these accounts in august, my reading suffered. so here is my first book stack of the new year!

Clean slate for the new year. I didn‘t meet my goal last year and I didn‘t do a good job of keeping up with my reading on goodreads.

Here are some reading goals for 2019:
-read 100 books.
-read books that I already own and stop buying books to put on my shelf for “eventually”
-get all the way caught up on my weekly comics stack
-do better keeping up with goodreads tracking.

queerbookreader Ooof, I still need to get caught up with comics I got back in November & October 6y
nosferatoos @queerbookreader I‘m in the same boat, tbh and I fell behind a lot of Marvel Comics in 2017 and didn‘t finish those stores do I had like 6 issues of an x-men comic that ended in like August to finish too 🤣 6y
queerbookreader Ya I got a DC miniseries last year and it ended in probably September but I didn't get around to reading any of them until last month 😭 I can't keep track of my comics if there are too many in my pull list so I only let myself have like three series on my list at a time so they don't pile up 6y
nosferatoos @queerbookworm it was so much easier to keep up with comics when I worked at a comic store lmao. Now that I have a normie job I am never going to be caught up again 6y

I don‘t actually read one star books because I usually just stop reading them. So of the ones I actually finished, Other People‘s Houses was a 2 star read for me. I went in with high expectations because I love this kind of book. But I just found the whole thing really cringey and poorly written.

Of my DNFs, Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero is the one I hated so much I could only get 50 pages in before tossing it.

#worstreads

tracy.m.ng The beginning dragged, but towards the end, (maybe I got used to reading about grocery shopping trips?) it got better-paces. I think if you view this as a beach read, then it‘s not so bad 6y

How do you pull yourself out of a reading slump? I can‘t seem to focus on any book for more than 50 pages and I am not loving it. I have tried focusing on reading comics but that‘s not working either. Any advice is welcome. #readingslump

If I threw up some books that I wanted to get rid of would anyone be interested in doing a book swap or something? I have a few books that I didn‘t personally enjoy enough to keep in my library but I know lots of people here loved and have in their tbr.

If no one wants to swap I might do a giveaway or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ let me know!

It‘s been at least 4 years since I read this book and I forgot how much beautiful melodrama goes into the character description 😂

Side note: Aglionby is the WORST name for anything in the history of books. It takes me out of the book every time because I have to spend 10 minutes trying to remember how to pronounce it.

Beachesnbooks 100% agree about their school name!! 6y

morevna @nosferatoos true that ? I probably..would have pronounced it like Alionby or something...and honestly I prefer that to "Aglynnbee" ? 6y
nosferatoos @morevna the first time I read it, all the way through the series I pronounced it like it was spelled “at-LION-bee.” Neither is great but the correct way is less bad (edited) 6y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️// y‘all I have been trying to finish this book for a full month. Not because it isn‘t great, not because I didn‘t love it. Simply because work has been so damn hectic. I can‘t remember the last time it took me a month to finish one 300 page book 😬
Anyway, there isn‘t much to say about this that hasn‘t already been said. It was funny and poignant in equal measure and I loved it.
