pickBook 55 of 2020! This is a heartbreaking story about two girls from India. The story touches on caste, misogyny, rape, human trafficking, friendship, resilience, and sex. Even though many aspects of the story were difficult to read, the book is so well written and the characters so likable, I definitely recommend it!

I really like this one. It took me a while to get through it because it was so full of information, interesting anecdote, and stuff that I needed time to process. I think this is an important one for most of us to educate ourselves about US history.

panBook 53 of 2020! This one wasn‘t very interesting for me... but just interesting enough to keep me going to finish it. The chapters that alternated between the author‘s memoir and the fictional account of James Earl Ray was an interesting concept, but it didn‘t really work for me here.
Had to make a quick 24-hour trip to #Pittsburgh for work (10 of those 24 hours were spent driving!). But being able to have my morning #coffee on this #AirBnB #porch with my book made it worth it!
I‘m just flipping through recent issue of Vanity Fair, and see my friend Melanie‘s book blurbed! So excited to see this come out!
pickBook 52 of 2020! Lots of important information and ideas in this book. I wish it had been just a bit more accessible and "non-academic" but I still think it's an important book everyone should read. Reading and thinking about the consequences of the USA's colonial settler past is always important and worth it.

pickAt times the book feels a bit like a slog, but I never really lost interest in it. Like Bowden‘s other books, it was hard for me to keep track of all of the names of people and places and things. But once I let go of trying to do that and just focused on the general story of the battle, as well as some of the amazing individual stories that Bowden tells so well, I learned so much. Equal parts infuriating and inspiring, it‘s well-worth the effort!
