#staycationintime @Meshell1313 @Chrissyreadit @DinoMom

I'm doing countries I've read books for, as I'm limited to 4 hour aeroplane flights.

You can definitely see the influence of #readingeurope2020 #readingasia2021 #ReadingAfrica2022 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB - where's next year's going to be? 😂😂😂😘

Bookworm54 Such a good idea! 😍 2y
BarbaraBB Such a cool world map! Next year you can fill the Americas I think, don‘t you, @Librarybelle ?! 2y
Meshell1313 Yay! I‘m so glad you like it! #readinggoals! 2y

DinoMom Love this 2y
Librarybelle So awesome, @jenniferw88 ! And, I think we will have to journey to the Americas next year, @BarbaraBB ! 2y
jenniferw88 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB sorry just realised this could be interpreted as a bit rude - I've presumed you're going to do another continent challenge next year. For all I know, you might want a break from it! (Willing to do a UK counties road trip if you ever fancy a year or 2 off from hosting!) 2y
Susanita I‘m already collecting titles for the Americas for…whenever. 😎 2y
Hooked_on_books I‘ve been looking at my books with an eye toward reading the Americas next year as well! Glad to know I‘m not alone! 2y
BarbaraBB Not rude at all Jennifer! Of course there‘ll be another year! After the Americas we‘ve almost finished the world and I‘d gladly do your British road trip!! @Librarybelle 2y
BarbaraBB @Susanita @Hooked_on_books So am I, happy to hear you are too! I think you‘ll be planning soon too @jenniferw88 😉?! (edited) 2y
jenniferw88 @BarbaraBB Yes, but I will need clarification please on 'the Americas' as I think you've already done a trip round the United States? Will it be Central and Southern America, or will it include North as well? I confess to buying this one already as it was 99p, and can trust it will be good! @Librarybelle @Susanita @Hooked_on_books ! 🤣 2y
BarbaraBB I guess north as well but just as a country each, so Canada and the US. And I think it‘ll include the Caribbean. But @Librarybelle should agree too! 😃 2y
Librarybelle I think it‘s fair to say Canada and the US as a country each, since we did do individual states a few years ago and there was a reading Canadian provinces challenge a couple years ago too. But, each individual country in Central and South America. @BarbaraBB @jenniferw88 @Hooked_on_books @Susanita 2y
jenniferw88 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB 😊😊😊 Currently working on #ukroadtrip2025 but sure I'll start planning this week! 2y
BarbaraBB 😂💯 2y

Our #foodandlit country for December, the #Philippines, is the 2nd most beautiful place in the world. Read the whole list here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/galleries/article-10273071/Ranked-50-beautiful-place...

I‘ve loved doing #foodandlit and #readingeurope2020 and #readingasia2021 and I almost feel like I‘ve been to places on lists like these. @Catsandbooks @Butterfinger @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

Butterfinger My book for the Philippines mentions those rice terraces. 3y
BarbaraBB Great article! And I agree on the number one! 3y
Librarybelle Nice! 3y

Murray is obsessed with Russia and this is her nine month long solo trip through the former Soviet Republics. It‘s a fun mix of anecdotes, some interesting observations of the everyday life, bits of history facts and, on more personal level - her thoughts about home, love, family ... Enjoyable and fun. #doublespin #Nonfiction2021 - inspires you #ReadingAsia2021 #Turkmenistan

Librarybelle I didn‘t get a chance to read this one last year, so maybe this is the year! 4y
BarbaraBB I enjoyed this one last year for #ReadingEurope2020! 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa That sounds really interesting. 4y

Simona @Librarybelle I‘m not sure for printed version .... I think that audiobook is better option. 4y
Librarybelle Good to know - thanks! 4y
Simona @BarbaraBB I‘m not big traveler, but I like to read about the experiences of others. 4y
Simona @Riveted_Reader_Melissa It‘s easy, light read and quick glimpse into different cultures. 4y

Mehso-so

A young ardent communist Leila, 15 yo musical prodigy from a privileged communist family, fall in love with Tahir, free-spirited boy who likes to paint, listen jazz and strongly rejects communism. Fahrad, who is the rising star of communist party, and of corse he falls in love with Leila ... and the problems begin. Pick: rich presence and description of art, music, myths and legends from #Azerbaijan history. 👇🏻

Simona ... Pan: poor characterisation, the story simply falls apart, and as often happens in the stories about sacrifices - this story too becomes too melodramatic and soapy. 4y
Simona @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle #ReadingAsia I‘m also reading books set in countries that bridges Asia and Europe. 4y
BarbaraBB I read those countries last year for #ReadingEurope2020. If you need suggestions, let me know! 4y

Librarybelle At least the cover is intriguing! 4y
Simona @BarbaraBB Thank you 🙏I will 🤗 4y
Simona @Librarybelle The beginning is really strong and captivating, but the second part was for me eye rolling 🤷‍♀️ 4y

This is embarrassing but if I‘m going to do a 2020 wrap-up I should do it in January. I finally completed my index of books read and reached an all-time high of 110 books read (not counting kids books read for Litsy games)! I finished 3 challenges: #litsyatoz #readingeurope2020 & #authoramonth I credit my high book count to these challenges. I had so much fun doing them. Thank you hosts so much!! Trying to catch that excitement again for 2021.

Librarybelle Woohoo! 4y
Crazeedi Nice job!!👏👏📚 4y

Pickpick

My #Serbia pick for this month‘s #ReadAroundTheWorld challenge, this is one that‘s been on my #MtTBR for years! And I‘m so happy to finally have read this beautiful and impressive debut novel! The book has a purposefully ambiguous former-Yugoslavia setting and blends in war, a dash of magical realism and history. Grandfather and granddaughter are doctors so this also works for #COVIDHeroes for #Booked2021!

Cinfhen Yay!!! Great choice 🙌🏻 4y
BarbaraBB I read this one for Servia too last year in #ReadingEurope2020 4y
TorieStorieS @Cinfhen Thanks!! I enjoyed it!! 4y
TorieStorieS @BarbaraBB When choosing my #RATWC books, I always try to start from my own shelves- it makes it extra exciting when I have already been meaning to read a title! 4y
BarbaraBB Yes me too! 4y

I read my way through almost all of Europe last year via fairy tales, although I did forget to post most of the reviews. I loved going by region! I learned so much about how stories travel, but also about how things that seem so ubiquitous to me are far more regional than I thought. It was lovely!

#readingeurope2020 #fairytales

DimeryRene Wow! Cool idea. 4y
BarbaraBB That sounds super interesting! Thanks for posting! Did you have a favorite fairytale? 4y

I‘m not great at keeping stats. But I do like a map!

This year I‘ve read authors from 33 countries, which I‘m quite pleased with, although i‘ll need to up my game to get through #ReadingAsia2021.

My showing for #ReadingEurope2020 was, ahem, poor 😐.
