A night away from home followed by a day off. I could get used to this...
Wow! Powerful, stark, brutal, brilliant. This #chunkster shares a glimpse of Jamaica in the 60s-70s from multiple perspectives: a ghost, gangsters, journalists, the CIA, and a woman with various identities, following the story to NYC in the 80s. An epic examination of the impact that governments, criminals, and artists can have on a community that is just trying to get by. Dark and upsetting but worth it. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
Finally got around to making some food for #Jamaica #FoodAndLit
Chicken brown stew, with rice and peas. It was delicious. And not too spicy despite the copious amounts of scotch bonnet! 😆

To recover from reading about global imperialism, I've turned to music, & these two albums I bought today. Bit of a risk buying unheard two compilations of reggae artists covering songs by Bob Dylan & The Beatles.
The Dylan one is really good, thankfully, & is fairly cohesive as they were specifically recorded for the album. Just starting on the Beatles one, & this is a collection of tracks recorded independently, so🤞🏻

Hello… it‘s me…
It‘s been more than a hot minute since I posted, kind of fell out of the habit this summer. I did have a wonderful summer of reading. Here‘s a round up of August. I‘ll post about a few of my favorite summer reads shortly.
