Well, #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall, I guess that's it for #Scarathlon 2023. :( I really hope you all had fun this year! I got to read a bunch of new and fun stuff, and I'm sure you all got to as well. Thanks so much for all your hard work! You folks are fantastic!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of old men in Rio reflecting on their friendships and approaching deaths. It‘s narrated by each in turn (with some events repeated). Alvaro is a misanthrope who hates women (but says he hates men too) - this put me off at first but then I just enjoyed her style & humour. Slightly repetitive but the men feel real, if larger than life, & thought-provoking re age & mortality. Also, gorgeous cover & small book. Love!
Books I have finished recently that I need to review! I was going to do this tonight but I have to go to bed. Stay tuned ... 😴📚
Let the cover of this book talk you into picking it up. You will certainly not be disappointed. A story of a group of friends that starts with their deaths and works through the group. Extremely interesting look into friendships, relationships and life in general. Another great one set in Brazil!
I picked this for my 100th book of 2017 because @RestlessBooks kicks ass and when @Narthan tells me to read something, I listen. 💯 📚🖤
