As someone who is involved in the #Disability sector and sees first hand the impact of cost increases, lack of pricing reform from the #NDIA and increased bureaucracy, leading to many providers being at risk, these findings are shameful - "The NDIA awarded Salesforce a contract worth $27 million in April 2020 for a new customer relationship and management software platform, known as PACE. Over the next three-and-a-half years, the value of this contract ballooned to $135 million, including an increase of $20 million for “professional services”. So as an example Therapy pricing for our most complex vulnerable people has not increased since before COVID, placing many providers offering these services at risk. However the implementation of a system can increase by 500% ? Who is this serving ? And will those at risk of not being able to receive services understand why their therapist is not able to continue because the money has been spent on a system instead of providing care? Is that the right priority? #peoplebeforebureaucracy #makeNDISfair

This is absolutely appalling but why does it not surprise us. The Disability & Aged Care sectors are suffering in more than ways than one. I know someone who is providing support services through the NDIS and what they brag about each week and about what they charge for a service and what little he is doing for it is another example of how badly the misuse of money being spent. There needs to be an independent review or audit of these funds and how they are being spent. As it’s clear to see it’s being abused and openly.

Agreed - the vast majority of providers are simply trying to provide the right care, therapy and support for their clients & participants. Pointing the finger at providers to blame them for rising costs is wrong. A big problem is with the NDIS staff who do not understand the complex case needs and then do not provide the right amount of funding to these participants. Then you hear of these major cost blowouts of projects and it’s disheartening to see.

It's frustrating to see how easily taxpayer money is handed over without supporting those in need. There must be a better way to monitor spending so that more money goes to the right place for the right people who truly need it.
