Designing for Everyone: Making Websites and Apps Easy for Everyone to Use! Accessibility in design is a fundamental principle that goes beyond legal compliance; it's about creating inclusive and welcoming digital experiences for everyone. By considering the diverse needs of users, including those with disabilities, we can design interfaces that are intuitive, easy to navigate, and accessible to all. Incorporating accessibility features such as alternative text for images, keyboard navigation options, and color contrast considerations not only benefits users with disabilities but also enhances the overall user experience for everyone. It promotes usability, increases engagement, and fosters a sense of inclusivity within digital communities. As designers, we have the power to break down barriers and ensure that no one is left behind in the digital world. Let's embrace accessibility as a core principle of design and create products that empower and enrich the lives of all users. #AccessibilityInDesign #DigitalAccessibility #UIUXDesign

#accessabilitypart1 → Accessibility needs to be at the forefront of every digital experience we create. Why? Because designing without accessibility in mind excludes a significant portion of people from using our products. And that exclusion isn’t just an inconvenience—it can impact their ability to access information, participate in the digital economy, and engage in society. Accessibility is about inclusion. It ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, can use a website or app with ease. When we design for accessibility, we’re designing for people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities. But here’s something else that often gets overlooked: → Designing with accessibility in mind makes the experience better for everyone. Clear text, high-contrast colors, and easy navigation? They improve usability across the board. 💡 WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) help guide us in creating accessible content. These guidelines are organized into four key principles: perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. By following them, we ensure our digital products work for all users. Next time you’re working on a project, ask yourself: Am I designing for everyone, or just for some? Let’s stop treating accessibility as an afterthought and start making it a core part of our design process. #AccessibilityMatters #InclusiveDesign #UXDesign #LinkedInGrowth

Design systems provide centralized source of truth, consistent user experience with branding and a lot of other benefits. Inaccessible design systems spread inaccessibility and your priority must be to integrate accessibility into each component. Accessibility needs to be in the acceptance criteria and in the definition of done, preventing using inaccessible components in your products. Shift accessibility left, at the start of design and developement or you will most probably fail. In my recent experience when I needed to convert a component from React to Web Component (vanilla JavaScript) and discovered that original was not accessible my task estimate exploded and as I needed to go to the owner of design system, fix the original component and then I could finally execute my task it took me at least three times more time to deliver value. Please audit your design systems if you are not sure how accessible they are. It will save a lot of time that can be used to deliver more value. Inaccessible components are technical and UX debt. Inaccessible components spread bad user experience and often also discrimination of people with disabilities! #DesignSystems #Accessibility #TechicalDebt

🌟Designing for accessibility provides insight for all 🌟 In a recent user testing session focused on individuals who are blind and rely on screen readers, a powerful insight emerged that resonates deeply with the principle of "Content Before Chrome" and is relevant to all users. One participant beautifully summed up their experience and preference: "Give me the content first and then the orientation, so I can choose to skip if I already understand it." This simple statement captures a critical aspect of user-centred design—especially in the context of accessibility. It's a reminder that, whether we're creating apps, websites, or digital products, the importance of delivering what users come for: the content or the action. This principle not only aligns with accessibility needs but also underscores the essence of minimalistic design—prioritising functionality and efficiency over elaborate design elements. It's crucial to remember that accessibility isn't just about compliance or ticking boxes. It's about understanding the diverse ways people interact with our products and ensuring that everyone has an equitable and efficient experience. Let's embrace this insight to push the boundaries of what accessible and user-friendly design truly means. Because when we design with everyone in mind, we create digital experiences that are not only inclusive but also more engaging and effective for all. #journeydigital #solveandevolve #accessibility #uxdesign #usertesting #digitalinclusion #screenreaders #usability
