Learn How to Create Mobile Responsive Branching Scenarios with Intellum Evolve using Arck Learning's New eLearning Tutorials 🚀 Branching scenarios are interactive, decision-based activities that present learners with different paths or outcomes based on the choices they make. They allow learners to engage with real-life situations and see the consequences of their decisions within a safe learning environment. There is now a four-part series of tutorials on our YouTube channel (link in comments) showing how to create branching scenarios in Evolve and how to navigate all the possible settings. Part 1 is attached to this post, but a higher definition version can be found on the channel along with the other three parts of the series. How close do you think AI is to replacing instructional designers? 🤖 🤔 Just stumbled upon this mind-blowing experiment by Dr Philippa Hardman that puts three different setups to the test: 1️⃣ A seasoned instructional designer going solo, no AI 2️⃣ A total beginner, zero ID experience, but with AI assistance 3️⃣ And a pro ID with AI backing them up Here’s the gist: ✅ AI outshines the pros. Across the board, AI-assisted work consistently outperformed human-only efforts — even when the humans were experienced IDs. ✅ AI’s got some unexpected skills, and we’re not just talking automation here! AI showed it can handle tasks we typically think require a human touch, like creating well-structured content and  linking objectives to modules. ✅ The “human touch” is still key. Despite AI's impressive performance, what people valued most was often attributed to human expertise, even when those elements were actually AI-generated. So, no need to fear AI, but don't rely on it entirely either! 🚀 Rive has the potential to lift interactions in eLearning to a new level, but where do you start with learning how to use it? For those of you who don’t know, Rive is a design and animation tool for creating interactive assets. Let's see whats next: 🎯 1. Get Rive. Don’t worry; the first three animations are on the house. You can find it easily with a Google search. 🎓 2. Time to learn I taught myself to a certain point with the Rive 101 video playlist on their YouTube channel. (Full disclosure: I had some animation experience with After Effects, so some concepts were a bit easier for me to take in. Most beginners should be able to work through it). This gave me a baseline of skills, but I wanted to dive deeper and felt a structured course would benefit me, which is where Motion Design School comes in. Ive been trying out the first lesson of their Rive course today (for free, no less! Just create an account, I'll pop the link in the comments), and Ive learned loads more already. Check out the video attached to this post. 🎨 3. Get your creations into your eLearning There’s a few ways to do that, but Ive been using Kwantic.co to build courses with my Rive animations (check out my other posts to see one in action!) You can just drop your Rive files straight in there as an interaction, no coding is needed to make them work! (Kwantic also has 3 free projects and some cool AI tools, so give it a go!) What is very innovative about this AI eLearning scenario asset (below) is I can upload my course content and it generates an interactive scenario-based *conversation* with the learner that can be exported as a web object or link, into any scorm/xapi based eLearning course. I asked if the score can be reported to the LMS or LRS.. I think holding the learner accountable for their responses can make it more meaningful. What I had a hard time wrapping my mind around was that it's dynamic, not static, so when one revisits the slide, the scenario changes! I'd like to see how I can integrate this into Canvas. The implications could be really interesting, particularly in helping children learn. I'd consider locking navigation on this slide until the learner scores at the appropriate level of understanding to move forward. I think the audio component can be super useful for Sales training. I wonder how the training paradigm could shift by using this to embrace the Socrates method of learning.. even more so, by turning off the typing functionality altogether and having learners speak their responses.

You really need more than one tool for eLearning Design. Along with an authoring tool you need screen capture, image editing, video tools, and more. The authoring tool is really the design platform but to make learning engaging, you need the right images and/or video to bring the subject to life. If your budget is an issue, there are free ancillary tools available. I have found that free tools don’t have all the features you need that also save time.

Instructional design is a lot like biohazard cleanup: It's all about containment and making sure the important stuff sticks. Creating effective training materials is all about managing overflow, containing the mess, and making sure people walk away with the essentials — not the fluff. From SOPs to field-ready guides, it’s about balancing simplicity with detail to get the job done right. After all, we’re here to clean up the confusion, not add to it.

We’ve used JobSIDE as a beta tester and this feature using AI to extract skills from job descriptions is really cool. The other thing it does is allow you to map those skills to equivalent skills in public taxonomies like the Education Design Labs Durable Skills taxonomy U.S. Chamber of Commerce Education Design Lab #JOBSide #BadgeSummit
