Book description
The linked book description above does not apply to this book. Adapted from teachings of Buddha, this is a tale of a monkey king who foresaw trouble coming to his people. When the prince of Benares came for recreation in that area, he discovered the delicious mango tree and that night, when the monkeys arrived to also eat mangoes, the prince ordered them all captured to be roasted for food. The monkey king saves his people but is harmed by the last, who was an enemy of the king. The prince sees the monkey king's sacrifice, & tries to heal him to no avail. But during that time the monkey king teaches the prince how to be a good ruler. And so he was, from then on.
