A quick, easy, and necessary read for all Christians, especially in America. This book aggressively confronts the self-absorbed nature that the Church seems to have inherited from the culture in which we live, prodding the reader to return to the gospel's original countercultural roots. However, this is not a theological tome; it is written as many of Lucado's works are - in small, bite-sized, quasi-devotional chunks. Because of this, some might be able to read through and possibly miss the bigger picture - if you read it, take it as the devotional and meditative work it is intended to be. Spend some time, ponder the points, and incorporate them into your overall study. You should not be disappointed. ( )

If you want to shift into high gear with purpose, this is it: life makes sense when we accept our place! Our pleasures, our problems, our gifts and talents ... when they're all for the One who created us, we suddenly gain what we've been missing and find what we've been seeking.

Let Max Lucado show you how to make the shift of a lifetime. How to bump your life off self-center. How to be changed and experience the meaning-charged life you were meant to have. Your discovery starts here.

A friend loaned me this book. Based on her recommendation, I read it and really liked it. Written in a conversational tone, it was easy to read. But the nuggets of information were thought-provoking and meaningful. I was often moved and amazed. The subtitle "Rescue from the life we thought would make us happy" is really true: a God-centered life does make me happier than a me-centered life. This book would make a great gift. ( )

This book is seriously the best book that I have read in a long time. The title says it all: It is not about us, it is about God. This book really humbled me and made me realize what the true purpose of being a Christian is: to Honor God and show His glory. It is not about us; it is all about Him. Lucado provides biblical advice about change and shares about God's love. He provides real life and fictional stories as examples to illustrate his points and always uses scripture to bring the point home. This book really changed my way of thinking. The writing style is perfect and the book cover is just gorgeous! This is a must read for anyone aged 16 and up (it provides advice about some adult situations). ( )

There really is more to this life than you've been told.

It's All About Me....They all told us it was, didn't they? And we took them up on it. We thought self-celebration would make us happy....

But believing that has created chaos-noisy homes, stress-filled businesses, cutthroat relationships. We've chased so many skinny rabbits, says Max Lucado, that we've missed the fat one: the God-centered life.

If you want to shift into high gear with purpose, this is it: Life makes sense when we accept our place! Our pleasures, our problems, our gifts and talents...when they're all for the One who created us, we suddenly gain what we've been missing and find what we've been seeking.
