Loading... The Universal Rejuvenation Program and The Laws of Metabolic Efficiencyby Maharishi BrahmThis review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This was definitely an interesting read; a little dry, but - it’s nonfiction so I had expected as such. Interesting in the fact the the theories are things you likely haven’t read before and hold you interest to try to understand what the author is discussing and proposing. There was no scientific evidence to back up the recommendations and so I do think it’s a little wreck less to make recommendations like these - HOWEVER - I also think that people as consumers need to use their own critical thinking when taking information in - SO - I took it as just theories and enjoyed pondering along with the author. I think there are many scientific breakthroughs that have started with someone proposing information that seems to go against the grain, so it will be interesting if these theories pop back up anywhere in the future. Until then, I won’t be giving up my fruits and vegetables, lol. Interesting read though, decently written for the average joe to follow. ( )This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I received a free copy through library thing. This book is a very interesting idea about how to slow down a humans metabolic process so to slow down degeneration. The problem is that the author is not providing a single reference to any study or research to corroborate anything he claims, which most of it goes against all the research we do have. I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anyone. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. 'The Universal Rejuvenation Program and The Laws of Metabolic Efficiency' by Maharishi Brahm walks the reader through the human metabolic system and his technique of achieving healthiness and long life. Detailing his 25 laws of metabolic efficiency, a special diet which avoids all vegetables and fruits, and some yoga like exercises and stretches, Brahm explains how life can be extended and even age reversed in certain circumstances. The author includes many charts, lists, and tables to explain his theory. Unsettling is the total lack of any independent references, doctor or dietitian reviews or endorsements. What is included, in Appendix E is a 'Confidential Universal Rejuvenation Program Application' , which when combined with a $100,000 fee enrolls the applicant into Brahm's Administered Program. This book, in my observation and review, is much more of an info-commercial than a self help guide. Though it is technical and exhaustive in Brahm's theory, I can not give it more than one star, and strongly recommend any serious reader to thoroughly research Brahm's ideas, including discussions with their health care providers. Wow, this was an interesting treatise on one potential avenue to slow down degeneration and increase rejuvenation based on maximizing cellular/structural energy. I learned a LOT and can appreciate the author’s candor when he states that the frontier of rejuvenation is mostly unknown. The book sites 28 “laws” to maximize cells (replacing dead ones, creating new ones and restoring function to dysfunctional ones). In all candor, each law is a treatise unto itself, our could be. The reality of adhering to such a way of life would be impossible for most of us in the West, but it would be interesting for anyone to try. Also, I am vegan and just cannot do some of the meat suggestions, but it could be right for someone else. This book doesn’t address the extreme amount of toxins/additives in the meat we have here either. However, I definitely have walked away from this with new eyes towards aging, both the realities and myths of it all; and will surely incorporate some of the laws into my life. I thank Maharishi Brahm for enlightening us all and setting us on a potentially very exciting new journey in rejuvenation. |
