The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreamsby Deepak ChopraDeepak Chopra offers a life-altering perspective on the attainment of success: When we understand our true nature and learn to live in harmony with natural law, a sense of well-being, good health, fulfilling relationships, and material abundance spring forth easily and effortlessly. Deepak Chopra is the bestselling author of numerous books and audio programs that cover every aspect of mind, body, and spirit. His groundbreaking books blend physics and philosophy, the practical and the spiritual, with dynamic results. The Seven Laws of Success distills the essence of Chopra's teachings into seven simple, yet powerful, principles that can easily be applied to create success in all areas of your life. Filled with timeless wisdom and practical steps you can apply right away, this is a book you will want to read and refer to again and again. At first I wasn't sure I was understanding everything. There were too many things all at once. But then I settled down into the book; reading certain parts again if needed. By the end, I thought I had absorbed most of it. All the different laws flow together really well. Law 7 is a challenge for me. "Finding your life's purpose". I still haven't decided if I believe that life has a purpose (more then just experiencing it or spreading happiness). This is another one of those books I received through my friend's "inherited library." It was one that he didn't want, so he passed it along to me. Clearly this was originally a gift (I can tell because the dust jacket corner with the price has been cut away). I have never read anything from Deepak Chopra, but I know the name. Here he presents the "Seven Spiritual Laws of Success," a list of ideas that are designed to help body and mind work in unison with the universe to achieve happiness, peace, and wellness (as well affluence). Each law is explained by Chopra, then the reader is given a list of actions to do that will help them enact each law in their daily lives. I like a lot of the ideas presented in this book and will try to practice some of the techniques. Let's see what happens. Had I read this book any more than a few months earlier I wouldn't have been able to digest its messages. Im so glad that I'm finding flow and the law of receiving finally, because it's bringing so many great books and experiences my way that previously were just lost on me. This book cross-pollinated my brain along with several other books I'm reading on energy medicine, meditation, ptsd, and mind-body healing. It's like the universe is suddenly making a little sense to me but even that little bit is immensely positive. Aha-moments (as Oprah calls them lol) are pinging all over the place in my brain. You learn the seven laws of success: 1) Law of Pure Potentiality 2) Law of Giving (and Receiving) 3) Law of Karma 4) Law of Least Effort 5) Law of Intention and Desire 6) Law of Detachment 7) Law of Dharma They all work in concert with each other, and when you are living in concert with your life and the energy field of the Universe all is well. I am glad I didn't try to read this book before I was ready to read it. This book is about finding yourself in the miasma of the world around us. It is about finding your place in "the field" that is the universe. If I hadn't had a guide to help me find my first steps, I probably wouldn't have bought this book as anything but blather. However, because someone had started my feet in the proper direction, I can understand the significance of what the author says and why. I can see, and feel, what the words offer. I could recommend this book to everyone, as it is an easy read. You have to be open to reading it, however, so I don't recommend just grabbing it to grab it. Take a little time to meditate on what you might learn, open your mind to new concepts... I Got this book at a lecture By Dr. Chopra in Las Vegas, as a promo to selling the first edition. After listening to the lecture (Which was excellent) the book ended up being more of a reference book to the lecture. However, If you have never Read it or heard Dr.Chopra, then I highly recommend this book for enhancing not only your Spiritual program but the success ideas presented here are well worth the effort for anyone looking for a good self-help book on success. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success -- shifts the thinking about the universe and our place in it. The Law of Pure Potentiality, The Law of Giving and Receiving, The Law of Karma, The Law of Least Effort, The Law of Intention and Desire, The Law of Detachment, and The Law of Dharma. For me on my spiritual journey, the concepts set out in this book is not ground-breaking. Nevertheless, this Big-little book has more of a profound impact.... let the "laws" sink in. I revisit it over and over - flipping it to any page and I start reading. It grabs your feelings to a more peaceful, in control manor. Chopra describes simple but transcendental ways of uncomplicated issues and life. Nonetheless, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is a handy little reference. It fits nicely in my purse so it serves as a handy little reminder when needed. Guarantee you'll learn something and/or your life will change in wonderful and joyful ways. About the author: quoting from the book's dust jacket, "Deepak Chopra is the bestselling author of numerous books. . .His groundbreaking lectures and books blend physics and philosophy, the practical and the spiritual, venerable Easter wisdom and cutting-edge Western science with dynamic results." About the book: Anthony Robbins, author of "Awaken the Giant Within" and "Unlimited Power" said of this work, "Of all Deepak's books, [this one] gives a profound outline for conducting one's life at the highest and most integrated level. It is magnificent." Library Journal review: Teilhard de Chardin said, "We are spiritual beings having a human experience." Chopra builds on this powerful thought in this recording that expands his life's work in spiritual approaches to daily living. He explains the laws of pure potentiality, giving, karma, least effort, intention and desire, detachment, and dharma and includes useful suggestions on how to apply these fundamental, natural principles if one is truly searching for purpose and a satisfying life. Ancient Vedic concepts form the basis of this philosophy of living that transcends the Eurocentric theological dogma that seems to preoccupy Western thought. |

As an all-genres, no-boundaries guy, it’s really hard to get all of Deepak, (especially since some of his books fall through the cracks of the bestseller lists, despite putting a respectable amount of his work up there), not unlike how it’s hard to “get” experientially (despite it being easily to get physically) all of the classic writer Billy S., who wrote in all genres contemporary to himself. Which is probably why the critics have to get ahold of him and mentally change everything, you know; the standard critic has to say that the tragedies are the ‘real thing’, (or possibly the sonnets, but they’re abstract, not operatic, you know), because they’re not interested in things working out and people being happy; it doesn’t spin their wheels. And obviously it has to be kept as standardized as they can manage it, you know; you don’t up and let people have any opinion that’s theirs any more than you let Billy be Billy and let him get around with different sorts of people. Which, really, if we’re honest, we don’t let him do—we don’t even let the /dead/ do /that/, and people changing the world today are twice as bad and thrice as damned, and that’s just for starters. (Wait until we ask the conservatives; we haven’t even gotten to them yet!)
But anyway, instead of trying to keep all the paper Deepak I could get that’s not available digitally, I decided to let go of, say, the Merlin novel, instead of keeping it to read again and possibly mull over and think over the mystery of reincarnation or whatever that book was about—and even though it was written very well, at what it was designed to be….. It’s just that sometimes putting your life on a solid, practical basis is the right way to “understand” the secret of death, the secret of reincarnation: you’ll get all your money back when it comes time for the next life, assuming that that’s what’s best for you, and that you acted the right way. But if you just “act the right way” but in a passive, negative, or otherwise financially anemic way, even if you don’t get cursed or whatever, you’ll probably get back what help you gave to others, which is probably not much, right…. (angry person) —But although I don’t know about my own life, I know that Things Are Bad!!! ~ (laughs) Yes, and that’s not to say that there isn’t that other element, that element of inclusion and the social element, which is part of everyone’s life: and some people’s lives, /especially/ so…. But sometimes people just think that they ought to be put in charge of other people’s lives, as compensation for not wanting to live their own…. “It’s okay to be angry about capitalism”, but only if you don’t mind taking your energy and using it on something other than achieving your goals…. “My goal is that my parent stops drinking.” And my goal is that you go to an Alateen meeting. 😸 “Hey!!”…. Which isn’t to say, that it isn’t at least marginally better, potentially, at least, to be angry that the collective world isn’t what it should be yet, than to be angry that the collective world isn’t anymore, what it never was—a corpse perfectly preserved in stasis….
