YA detective novel: searching for a missing author which later revealed as old lady they've already met in the process

Hi! I'm looking for (what I believe) is a Young adult novel. Might or might not be a choose your own adventure type of book.
It's about teenagers working together to solve the disappearance of a famous author.
At one point they met an old librarian (I think), she has a scarf with two of her initials sewn on it.
The twist is revealed later that the old lady is the person they're searching for, and the initials when flipped is revealed to be the author's initials.
I think it has to exist ~2010 since that was when I read it.
It's been a while so details might be very foggy but I'm 100% sure about the scarf-initials thing.
The cover is an illustration with blue hue I think.
