- About My Library
- My addiction amounts to about nine or ten thousand books. Mostly English History, Ancient Greek and Roman History and works on Mantra, Yantra and Tantra (some 1000 books almost all in Sanskrit). I have a few hundred first editions of Joyce Carol Oates (80 or so signed)including the supposedly destroyed newspaper version of The Monkey Trials. I also have some first editions of Charles Dickens. A signed copy of Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald. An unpublished short story by William Saroyan ("Hemingway")- the original typewritten copy. An indenture from 1485. An illuminated leaf from a French Breviary 1225 to 1250. Some letters from The Duke of Wellington. Books from the Library of Sir Robert Peel. Queen Victoria's personal copy of Boyle's Court Guide. The second English Edition of Don Quixote. And a few hundred books dealing with the years 1821 to 1827 regarding the city of London (guides, directories, surveys, diaries, maps, personal letters, Athenaeum members, etc. etc.). I admit to a fondness for fine leather bindings and antiquarian works.
- About Me
- Born in New York City. I fled to balmy Berkeley, California and after a brief, thirty year stay, to the eastern portion of Washington State and later to Polson, Montana. I work as a computer programmer. Hobbies include Karate (begun in 1960,in NYC with my first instructor, the legendary Min Pai; and later continued with master Byong Yu in Berkeley), and tournament chess.
