About My Library
As my eyes fall daily on my books, impossible to avoid in this house -- deliberately so -- my gaze is increasingly wistful. They are creatures as much of my own imagination and longing as they were to the authors themselves. More often than not I feel that they have now been calcified and preserved, held in keeping at subsequent or layered points in time. To scan them, their spines I mean, is to disinter and decrypt the sediment of my desires.
About Me
Buying a little bedside bookshelf was one of my first self-defining acts as an adolescent. I've since collected but also shed many books, often to my regret. I can see that LT will allow me to retrieve some I have lost, and also find new ones. In the meantime I find that I am shifting, inevitably it seems, to e-books, especially useful for reading other languages, since the dictionaries are often built right into the texts.
