- About My Library
- My home library is an eclectic collection of fiction and non-fiction, religion and politics, how-to and how-not-to. No one could ever go to one section of the library or a bookstore and say "this reminds me of you......" And the beauty of it all is that I am always open to reading something new and different.
My on-line library will be much bigger than my at home library. Unless a book really grabs me or I want it for reference or to write in I will either get it from the library or if I am in possession, I will give it away. Books are to be shared!!! - About Me
- I am a retired Nurse Practitioner with a lifelong love of reading, of libraries and of bookstores. As I travel part time, I get to explore libraries and bookstores around the country. I love finding books either about the region, the culture of the region, or books by a regional author. While at home, if I am feeling blue I go to the local library (within walking distance of my home) to feel invigorated by "the written word."
Several years ago, after feeling a book inside of me, I wrote a 375 page novel that I did have edited. (I realize now that it was cathartic for the angst I was feeling over the Catholic Church.) Being amazed at that within me has opened my mind to what else is dying to get out and in print. I find myself also reading differently and designing Reader's Guides in my head after reading.
My best memories of growing up in south Florida was riding my bike to the library and bringing home several Nancy Drew books and escaping into the hammock in the back yard or hiding in the mango tree with my books. The book group I began about 25 years ago is alive although smaller. Due to my moving 200 miles north, it is now via zoom that five of us meet. Also, during the pandemic, I suggested to my new neighbors beginning a book group and we have done that, meeting for almost 2 years now. And my daughter, a member, is a steward of a FREE LITTLE LIBRARY close to her home.
Other interests are current events, traveling, playing SCRABBLE and WORDS WITH FRIENDS (us bibliophiles like our words!), hiking/walking, birding, grandchildren, and some writing. My two personal mantras are "everyone deserves a 'family'" and "the opportunity to learn to read needs to be available to all." - Location
