Hello Fellow Readers!

This was such a unique graphic novel. Thapp really outdid herself on the artwork, there was so much detail and thought put into each frame, I had to look through multiple times so I did not miss anything. The art really set the mood for each season Thapp represented in this book, it almost felt like visual poetry. I would love to have Thapp's artwork on my walls at home as I loved it.

The story really complimented the artwork and I found myself feeling each emotion Thapp displayed in real time.I was also able to really empathize with the story as I found myself in these same situations. The only complaint I would have is that I would have loved for it to have been longer.

Overall if you love visual books, this one is a must.

What a lovely and remarkable graphic novel! Thapp explores one young woman’s feelings over the course of a year, from the highs of a sunny summer day to the doldrums of a gray winter.

The artwork is beautiful and evocative (and illustrated by Thapp). We see the woman energized and working with purpose, and we see her depressed and struggling to cope. We see her embrace her connection to nature, and find strength in expressing herself through her art. As she nurtures her plants, she nurtures herself, allows herself a quiet respite to regroup and be ready for Spring’s growth.

The text is spare and poetic, although she does begin each seasonal shift with a few paragraphs to set the mood.

Feelings is a graphic novel memoir by author Manhit Thapp as she goes through the different shades of anxiety and depression through the seasons and year.

Thapp really dives into showing what it’s like to have anxiety and depression. Because, let’s be honest, those two things are not fun, nor are they pretty. But Thapp does a magnificent job at showing both with her beautiful artwork.

At first I thought this would be about seasonal depression, and in a way, it is, but it goes into so much more. Especially about the voices Thapp is hearing in her head and how loud they can get. That’s what it’s like inside my head constantly so I felt that hard.

This is a beautiful graphic novel memoir that I will highly suggest for those who, even though it’s a bit of a tough subject, want to see others who also deal with anxiety and depression shown within gorgeous panels of art.
