izzied | 5 other reviews | Oct 29, 2020 | Originally I bought the book because a) I love badass heroes, b) I love tough heroines, and c) the blurb made it sound the book would be steamy. And tats! There's tats! And the cover! Look at that cover!
My excitement level soon sunk down like a balloon deflates after you stick a needle in it.
It was a sweet story about a badass and a tough heroine falling in love, points for that. Parts of it were funny, parts of it hot, and then parts of it a bit juvenile for my tastes. These are grown-ups the book is about, not 15-year-olds. And, frankly, at times their repertoire was just subpar. It is possible to write a badass, hard as nails character without the constant cussing to emphasize their badassness. No really, it is, I've read those kinds of books.
The sex scenes, although plentiful, were mostly mediocre. Some parts of the overall story were underdeveloped. The plot wasn't fully utilized, and felt rushed.
But the biggest downfall is the writing. I have never read another book with so many grammatical errors. Punctuation. -Ing words. I swear all kinds of things did stuff in this book I didn't think it would even be possible for them to do any of it.
You know what's wrong with that sentence, right? Yeah, it's full of THAT.
However, this wasn't a DNF for me like so many other badly written and/or edited books have been, so I guess it was pretty decent. Not worth the price I paid for it, though. I really need to learn to use Amazon's Look Inside feature...
Not sure if I want to read about Trip and Teeny. Starting their story along with telling Scar and Mace's story, and then ending this book in a cliffhanger-ish scene was a bitch.… (more)

Reading my book, the sun shone too brightly in my eyes.

My shelves are based on the other man being the hero because to me this book reads like the hero (referred to in the blurb) is the other man.
I wish the true hero had lived.

Bit too dramatic.
