Trigger warnings: Murder, death of a child, grief and loss depiction

7/10, now that I think of this book retrospectively it wasn't as good as I had thought when I first read this book but it was still an enjoyable read anyways. The concept of this book is just, let me say this, a cheap knockoff of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. That's it. Now with that behind, the book was quite a fascinating read and this is only part one of the series but the library does not even have the second book so I will never know what really happens in the end. The main character, Tella was just a typical teenage heroine that kicks butt and tries to survive and win the Hunger Games Brimstone Bleed. The side characters didn't have much characteristics like Harper, Caroline and Dink except for the fact that they were Tella's allies and that's all, and the antagonists were just as over the top and shallow as them especially the main one whose name I forgot but I know that he was some sort of mad scientist. The book got a bit brutal at times and there were even a couple of deaths of minor characters but that is to be expected in a story like this. If you like a quick sci-fi book this one is for you.… (more)

When their council housing is threatened with being usurped by a development firm, the residents of Roseacre Close take action! While each family struggles with their own internal battles, the neighbors band together to save their beloved housing. In the process, secrets are revealed, love blooms, healing occurs, and friendships form. This novel shows that love and hope triumph over all obstacles. Be ready for the twisty ending! Readers should be aware of the frequent use of profanity by the characters.

I received this novel from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Let me just start off by saying that I loved Salt and Stone! I was a bit curious beforehand on how Salt and Stone would continue considering that Fire and Flood stopped in the middle of the Brimstone Bleed. Luckily Salt and Stone transitioned really nicely picking up where Fire and Flood left off. I also loved seeing the development of Tella and Guy's relationship, and I was super thankful that there wasn't a love triangle.
I hope Victoria Scott is writing a third book in this series, because I need another one! Considering the ending of Salt and Stone, I think there's a high probability of a third book but that may just be my delusional, fangirl wishing.… (more)
