A private detective gets in the middle of a series of murders.
I can't put my finger on where this movie goes wrong, apart terrible sound editing. Everything seems to be done exactly right, but it felt like a very long 95 minutes. I think maybe they got it TOO right. It's too faithful to the book. Mitchum is too perfectly cast as Marlowe. If you've read the book, there isn't anything left for the movie to do.
