My first attempt at reading history after almost 5 years. But this book was worth it. It describes one of the worst atrocities done by humans with fine detail and heart crushing realism. It follows both the War and Soviet Union but mostly focuses on the common Leningraders that were stuck in the middle of most brutal war world has experienced.

Only thing it lacks, according to me, was more details about the actual act of seige happening. But it covers it by sheer realism it offers to the reader.

A must-read.

About time I learned some of this stuff. Not nearly as straight forward as I always assumed. The poop will always rise to the top in politics unless there are very strong controls in place to prevent that. Sad they’re so mired in that stuff in the Ukraine today.
