Bea is excited for her birthday, but it snows so much that her parents can't get extra food and supplies, and her extended family can't make it through the snow. Bea tries hard not to be disappointed, but she can't help it. She takes some time to be sad, but then agrees to go outside with her brother, and sledding is fun, even if it wasn't the plan. Back inside, there are homemade decorations and a cake...then her dad trips, and the cake goes splat. Bea decides to eat a spoonful of it from right where it landed, and her brother and parents join in.
