i really enjoyed this because it isn't an unrealistic argument to ditch social media or technology as a whole but rather a philosophy for reconfiguring your relationship with technology so that it's truly adding something positive to your life/existing interests and values. there were a few moments in here where i wished he had spoken more about how, for example, maybe someone younger working full time could implement this philosophy in their life. we did get mostly examples of older affluent people who work from home or the financially independent crowd who already have a lot of free time to fill with valuable hobbies, and he DOES bring up the fact that not everyone is in that situation, but then we don't really spend any time on the people who aren't. i loved showcasing the ideas that people came up with themselves, like the guy using his commute as kind of a virtual open call time where his friends always knew he was free to talk on the phone after 5:30, that was cute. def a lot of mike's hard look at yourself moments where going forward i'll consider what new and existing apps are ACTUALLY adding to my life beyond just another thing to keep up with & keep me looking at my phone under the guise of 'connection'… (more)
