Recommended... but as with any work that involves interpretation should be taken with an open mind. I particularly like the source list to other works that were referenced... worth some follow up reading.

Among the many things observed, the one that is most outstanding is God's relentless MERCY - toward a stiffed neck, recalcitrant and rebellious people. Over and over again God visits his people via his chosen ones, the prophets (who themselves suffer severely as God's chosen instrument). This volume, like all of the Navarre Commentaries, provides the reader with in-depth commentaries on virtually every line of the Scriptures. The commentaries expound the historical and spiritual significance of each passage, making the Scripture meaningful in context. The rich treasure of Catholic theologians through the centuries is drawn upon in developing the commentary. Recommended for an in-depth, Catholic understanding of these most important first books of the Bible.
