Stephanie thinks she is going on a tracking competition but it is a set up. Vance, her ex-partner when they were cops, also set up. He is now a bounty hunter. Gina falls into river. Later Steph and her dog, Chloe do too. You hold your breath hoping they make it out. There is lots of shooting and dangerous situations. God protects Steph and Vance every step of way. Vance and his dog, Pudge also in danger alone with Step and Chloe. Cells and satellite phones of no use. Chloe and Pudge complete opposites
So are Steph and Vance. Sometimes you hold your breath and others you feel like cheering. Pudge is not trained as a tracker but is is loyal to Vance. No one wants Ferris, a prisoner just released from prison to succeed in his plans. A very descriptive story. I highly recommend it and all Dana Mentink books.… (more)

Mia is trying to start over after a bad marriage to a criminal and a short jail sentence after stabbing him in self-defense. She has made a couple of new friends, has a job at a clinic and is going to nursing school while raising her 4 year-old daughter, Gracie. Then her friend, Cora, is murdered and she becomes a suspect. She loses her job, is threatened and connections from her ex-husband's past show up. Her remaining friend, Dallas, a local Search and Rescue trainer is also not who he seems.

The plot was a little over the top for a short novel. Mia put independence above safety too many times. I could not understand her at times. The first 2 chapters that tried to reveal the plots of the 2 earlier books in the series did so using these long convoluted sentences. Very awkward. I did like Dallas. He had a tough adolescence in a gang and found it hard to make connections now; it was easier to move on when people got close. He seemed a real character.… (more)

Just when you think you have it all figured out think again as there just might be more surprises to the story. I was looking forward to the second novel in the Security Hounds Investigations and it did not disappoint. I’m clearly in love with these Hounds as they each have their own personality. I love this truth woven into the story, God is worthy of my devotion, not because he answers my prayers the way I want Him to, but because He’s God. Well written fast paced suspense that keeps you reading quickly. The characters are relatable as they are flawed and make mistakes but see their need for faith and forgiveness. This is a family that stands together and seeks to help others with their dogs. I can’t wait for the next adventure in store for them . Pick up a copy and settle in for the duration as you will want to see what occurs next.

Fugitive Search (Security Hounds Book 2) by Dana Mentink is a work of Christian fiction. Catherine has been hiding from the man who killed her father. But when he is caught, she returns to her uncle and sister. Unfortunately, he escapes and abducts her. Miraculously, Garrett Wolfe and his tracking dog show up just in time to save her. Unfortunately, she prefers not to be saved by the former detective who investigated her father’s murder.

Family drama of numerous types, various dangers, and the guilty party claiming he was innocent made me unable to put this book down. Family ties, faith, prayers, and more fill the pages of this book. I loved seeing where the author would take me next.

This fast-paced novel will keep you reading. As part of the Security Hounds series, I recommend reading the books to get to know the Wolfe family. But, you could also read this book independently if you choose to do so.
