4 stars

A collection of novellas based on various members of this MC. Very quick read that left me wishing that they were instead full length novels. Each of the novellas had the potential to be more and I wish that the author had pursued this instead as it would have made me more invested in the characters.

While this wasn't my favorite from this author I still enjoy her work immensely.

I know, I know....this is a novella but dammit, it's too short. (that's the reason for the 4 stars....I wanted more!)

I want to know so much more of Bear and Scarlett.

From the first meeting to the last page their connection was like a beacon in the night. They were drawn to each other from the start and knew instinctively they were meant to be together. How can one not want more of a love story like that?

What did Jaxson do that her ex-scum bag ended up in prison for life? How will the club handle Abel's death?

I know there is another book in the series coming out soon but I want this now. My appetite has been whetted and I don't want to wait. Boy, do I sound needy or what? I'll go to my reading corner and see if I can find something else to occupy my time while I wait.

It's novella.....only a novella.

I needed this book to be sooo much longer. I didn't want it to end because I have questions lots and lots of questions.

Ryan is our hero. We meet him on the day of his older brother's, Cam, funeral. He died in combat and things will never be the same. Ryan is expected to go to college and take a different path from Cam but that is not what Ryan feels he needs to do. Is this going to cause problems with the folks...oh yea.

Cass's older brother Nate is Ryan's best friend. Not even he knows just how big her crush on Ryan is. And now that Cam is gone what is this going to do to Ryan and can she help him.

The changing point in Ryan's life happens when on the way to the funeral home he stops off at the recruiters office and enlists in the Marines. No one knows nor will they until he is ready to leave.
After the proper funeral Ryan, Nate, Cass and friends get together to have the kind of send off more appropriate to Cam's personality. A drunk Cass kisses Ryan, he tells her once she's sober and if she still feels the same way they take things from there. Right....we are going to have a love story!

We jump 10 years and now Ryan is out of active duty and part of the Unacceptables MC. He has not contacted anyone at home nor does he have any plans to. He is broken and feels that he is not worthy of the people he left behind. His folks also disowned him when they discovered he had enlisted. We follow him and Bear to handle MC business. Things go as planned. Information gathered and enemies disposed of.

Now their first meeting didn't go great She finds out he has been close by for a while but hadn't sought any of them out. She's now struggling to remember her fiance, Kevin, and not give in to the pull Ryan still has on her. She tells him he would be better off going to see her brother and patch things up with him. Nate has had his share of troubles. His wife cheated on him, his boss was into money laundering and he let his folks down by not going to college as they expected him too.

Anywho we see Ryan and his MC brother's face another challenge They recently discovered they had bad information as to who ordered the hit on their former President and it was time to make sure they paid by hitting the rival MC in various spots wiping them out. He tries talking to Cass to make her understand that yes, he still cares for her but she deserves more than him. She doesn't take this well and basically tells him to F*** off.

Ryan seeing Cass being fitted for her wedding dress flips something in him letting him know there's no way he can let her go. She is, understandably pissed at his timing....4 weeks before her wedding. But she gives in and says yes, to being with him and taking a chance on him.

We get a rushed view of them as a couple, living together and learning to be happy. Then comes the last party.....Cass is excited because she has news for Ryan (you can guess what it is, I know you can) but as she drags him outside to tell him they are met with gunfire.
"Before that moment Ryan has just been a guy on a motorcycle who had other friends who liked to ride motorcycles too and occasionally shot guns. Now he was an outlaw, I was his old lady, and we were in danger."

It's then Ryan does the unthinkable.... He QUIT THE MC! AND THEY LET HIM! Okay, I know the tipping point was him finding out she's pregnant and him not wanting his family to be in danger but.....how many have said it but not actually went and said....Hey guys love you all like brothers but I'm outta here?!?!?! The epilogue....back to the beginning to make a new beginning, sweet!

My questions are mostly about Cass. What did she do in those 10 years? Does she work? I don't get the feeling that we know Cass. She's kind of a 2 dimensional character for me. Sure we know she's loved Ryan all her life, she's pissed about how he left but she still takes him back to try and find their HEA.....but is that all there is to her? Even with her being kind of flat for me I still really enjoyed the book for it's take on his POV . Will I read more by the author, you bet I will.

We get a taste of the love story that is Bryn Malloye and Mitch Katz....and I do mean just a taste. This is a novella jam packed with heat, lust, laughs and angst.

Ever have a fight with someone, say things you don't mean and then wish for a do over. There's some of that in here.

I will say what I love about KHM's female characters, they are usually strong and independent with a touch of girlie to them. They have jobs other than nurse, secretary and those other stereo types we sometimes see. And yes, they are not afraid to let loose and let their men know what they like in the bedroom gymnastics area.

Mitch comes to us broken hearted but not hardened so that when Bryn enters his life he doesn't waste precious time lamenting "the one that got away".

Can't wait to have to whole story.....after the last chapter here I bet it's going to be a doozey!!
